The Sword of Damocles

The Sword of Damocles is a series of 24 communication satellites orbiting the Earth at an altitude of roughly 20,000 miles. The satellites are capable of transmitting an electromagnetic pulse powerful enough to disable all electrical activity within a radius ranging from a small town to an entire country. S.D. "Snake" Plissken used these satellites to shut down all power in Earth in an event that became known as "The Pulse." They appeared in Escape from L.A..
